Christmas Hampers

In the spirit of giving, we collected food hampers over October and November 2014 containing non-perishables and essential items to be given to families who are struggling to make ends meet. We usually throw in some Christmas goodies or toys too!

This year, thanks to your generosity, we collected a record-high of 73 hampers!! In previous years, we normally collect about 30 – 40 hampers on average. This year, that number doubled!

Because of that, we were able to bless so many more families. We blessed 52 families in total (because some families were really large, and we gave them 2 hampers!). We are connected with these families through our local community contacts such as in Disability Services, Health Services and Settlement Services. These families span over a few neighbourhoods such Inala, Acacia Ridge, Forest Lake, Doolandella, Durack and Sunnybank. Some hampers were also given to families in Gold Coast (an initiative with Hope Gold Coast), and some during Christmas 4 Kids in both Brisbane and Gold Coast.

Winter Warmers

Over 2 weekends, 8 June and 15 June weekends, we saw people from across 4 services bringing in winter clothing, blankets, jackets, sleeping bags, canned food and long-life food.

Over May and June 2014, we launched our Winter Warmers campaign. A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who responded to our appeal for the Romero Centre. In total, we collected:

  • 410 canned food
  • 160 men’s winter clothing
  • 30 manchesters
  • 7 go cards

On 3 July 2014, we delivered the items which filled up two cars! We would also like to extend a special thank you to the youths at Ablaze for sorting the items, you guys rock!
