Hands of Hope is affiliated with Australia Care & Trauma Services. We are also the community arm of Hope Church Brisbane, which is based in Unidus Community Centre, located in the south-western suburbs of Brisbane.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring hope through practical means to build empowered and socially sustainable communities. We desire to empower families to lead successful and holistic lives and to work with young people and children through targeted programs and events.
Our Story
We were founded in 1998 as the community arm of Hope Church Brisbane and joined in partnership with Australia Care & Trauma Services (ACTS) in 2004. Our biggest event is the annual Christmas Fiesta event which was known as Christmas 4 Kids. It has since grown over the past 15 years, winning the Lord Mayor’s Community Event of the Year award in 2006 and gaining the publicity and support of the local community.
Since the establishment of Unidus Community Centre in 2012, Hands of Hope moved into the community centre and is currently based there. Hands of Hope has since then found its place serving the local communities where Hope Churches are based, such as in Willawong, St Lucia and the Gold Coast. We also partner with mission teams from Hope Church, sending volunteers to assist in aid work internationally.

Our Values

We are inspired and compelled by the love of Jesus and seek to reflect the Christian values in our service to all people.

We show empathy to people’s needs by listening to them and providing assistance where possible.

We seek to steward our resources responsibly and effectively, as well as learn from our mistakes and celebrate our successes.

We acknowledge the diversity of individuals and we treat people with dignity regardless of culture, social status and faith background.

We recognise that everyone has the capacity to make positive changes in their sphere of influence. We seek to achieve sustainable living and long-term empowerment.
