Who are we?

Hands of Hope is the community arm of Hope Church.

We are based in Unidus Community Centre, located in the south-western suburbs of Brisbane.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring hope through practical means to build stronger and more sustainable communities. We desire to empower families lead successful and holistic lives, and to work with young people and children through targeted programs and events.

Our Story

We were founded in 1998 as the community arm of Hope Church. Our biggest event is the annual Christmas 4 Kids event, that started off as Santa’s Gift Factory. It has since grown over the past 15 years, winning the Lord Mayor’s Community Event of the Year award in 2006 and gaining the publicity and support of the local community.

Since the establishment of Unidus Community Centre in 2012, Hands of Hope moved into the community centre and is currently based there. Hands of Hope has since then found its place serving the local communities where Hope Churches are based, such as in Willawong, St Lucia and the Gold Coast. We also partner with mission teams from Hope Church, sending volunteers to assist in aid work internationally.

Our Values

We are founded upon Christian values and the Christian faith. Based on this, we seek to demonstrate the love of Christ to everyone, regardless of culture, background or faith.

We are motivated by compassion, loving people and communities unconditionally. We do so by providing assistance where possible.

We believe in the value of being excellent in our attitudes and activities. As part of being excellent, we greatly value integrity and honesty.

We appreciate and respect the dignity of individuals regardless of background and social status. Our decisions and the way we treat people show our value for people.

We bring hope to people and encourage individuals and communities to be the best that they can be. We seek for long-term empowerment, rather than providing quick fixes.
