the local sense

In May 2007, Hands of Hope worked in partnership with some keen volunteers to raise funds for Watoto Care Ministries to build an orphanage for children affected by HIV AIDS in Uganda.

For the past few years, we have also been taking part in the Brisbane 'Yes we care' project where volunteers team up with volunteers from churches around Brisbane to clean up people's homes.

We have also been running 'Bring a Smile' project where volunteers of all ages bring a cheer to those in nursing homes around Brisbane.

'Christmas 4 Kids' is the signature event of Hands of Hope. Each year this event brings the Christmas cheer to hundreds of families living in the southwest suburbs of Brisbane. This popular well-known Christmas event is embraced by the locals in the community and both the young and adults alike look forward to this event!

On Australia Day 2006, Christmas 4 Kids was awarded the prestigious Community Event of the Year award by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman. Click here to go to Christmas 4 Kids website.

the international sense

Hands of Hope is also taking part in international community services work. A team of volunteers will be heading over to North Thailand for community work in early 2008. Community work is also planned for the Philippines in the near future. Watch this space for updates on this exciting venture.
